Membership
The Society represents the harness horsemen (owners, trainers and drivers) and breeders in the province of British Columbia. Effective March 1, 2010, membership in the HRBC is required in order to participate in harness racing in the province or any benefits offered by the Society.
Harness Racing BC (HRBC) has two classes of member, in addition to Honourary Membership, which is bestowed upon persons who have performed distinguished service to the industry over time . Those categories of membership are: Active membership for Owners, Breeders, Trainers and Drivers and; Associate Membership for Grooms, persons under 18 years of age and others ineligible to for Active Membership.
The principals of a corporation, association or partnership that owns and operates a breeding establishment for Standardbred Horses in BC is also eligible for Active Membership, as are non-residents of BC that own and operate a breeding establishment for Standardbred Horses that is located in BC.
The membership year will run from January 1st to December 31st and any application for membership must be in written form, accompanied by the annual membership dues, and is subject to approval by the Board of the Society.
