January 27, 2010 HORSE RACING LEADERSHIP
Some months ago, as the 2009 started to take shape, the four Presidents of the Standardbred and Thoroughbred Racing and Breeding Societies began informal monthly meetings to look at issues that were of common interest and concern ... As time and the GPEB restructure of the BC Horse Racing Industry has progressed, so has that alliance....those four society Presidents are now supported by their VP's and others to be "The Horse Racing Leadership Council of BC". Albeit an informal alliance, the HRLC is unencumbered by any pre-determined purposes or limitations and is united in it's commitment to cooperate together for the greater good of Horse Racing in BC, be it Standardbred or Thoroughbred Racing. No issue is sacred and to have the leaders of both racing codes sitting down together to address them can be nothing but positive for BC Racing. As the current Government moves to treat Horse Racing as a single industry in the province, the racing codes, themselves, are a stronger force for having united in this alliance to influence, as much as possible, the direction of the restructure. Stay Tuned!.... 2010 may have some challenges, but the future is brightening!
